We don’t generally list properties this far south of Valencia but every now and then one will pop up that we think is worth us making the trip down to visit. Javea (pronounced: have – ee – ya) is a town within the province of Alicante, about a 90-minute drive from Valencia and an hour or so from Alicante and it is extremely popular in the summer months with locals and foreign tourists like. Dotted with stunning coves, crystal clear waters and the backdrop of the Montgó make for a picturesque holiday spot. Apparently, it was the pre-eminent port for the export of raisins until the raisin trade collapsed, or the ‘sinkin of the raisin’ as it was known back in the day.

Anyway, this isn’t your typical pokey summer flat where you and 15 other family members share 50m2, here we have 100m2 to enjoy and only 200m from the beach and the avenida Mediterráneo which is the main strip for your fine dining and whatnot. Views of the aforementioned Montgó mountain from the communal swimming pool and a parking space thrown in for those of you driving down from old Amsterdam plus it comes with a tourist licence.

During the summer months you are looking at serious $$$$ on rentals here so spending the winter in a quiet town on the med with its own microclimate (considered the 2nd best in the world behind Rio de Janeiro I’ll have you know with a year-round average of 18-24º) while raking in the moolah in the summer sounds like a bloody attractive proposition if you ask me.
