Marines

Marines is another of the whitewashed new towns built recently. I say recently but this one was a a result of the floods in 1957 when Marines Viejo was washed away. (You can still visit Marines Viejo and people still live there, it is on the way from Olocau to Segorbe)

Marines is a new town therefore with a typical style of house built around a courtyard. Largely passed by during the boom years in Spanish property it has maintained its particular charm and has a lot of small shops and bars for the population.

Marines lies between Lliria and Olocau on an area very popular with cyclists who often stop at the sports centre to grab a huge sandwich.
