You Come to Valencia For The Lifestyle Right?

We have spent a lot of time in our posts recently looking at the property market, interest rates and even international geopolitics but in the end the reason people want to come and live in Valencia is the lifestyle isn't it? So today we are going to look at what is happening in the upcoming extended summer in and around Valencia. Why do people come and live here? To experience some of these things along with the day to day experience of living in a vibrant, safe and interesting country with a fantasatic climate. So let's go.

It's still April and just this weekend there was the kite festival at the beach, the PROAVA Gastronomic fair in the riverbed and more, but obviously things warm up as we get to the summer and the bigger events so there's lots to come.

 MAY 2024

Music & Festivals

  • Festival Deleste (May 17–18, 2024, Marina de Valencia) – Indie, electronic, and alternative music festival.
  • Valencia Open Air (May 24–25, 2024, Jardín del Turia) – Open-air electronic music festival.

Culture & Arts

  • Nit de les Arts (May 17–18, 2024) – Galleries and museums open late with free exhibitions.
  • Feria del Libro (Book Fair, late May–early June) – Book stalls and author signings in Plaza del Ayuntamiento.

Sports

  • Valencia FC look as if they are going to be safe now in the first division and their season ends in May
  • Levante UD are in a promotion battle and may be in the play-offs at the end of May if they don't go up to the first division directly

Food & Wine

  • Valencia Wine Festival (May 10–12, 2024) – Local wine tastings and gourmet experiences.

But if that is not enough then take a look at the smaller things going on in Valencia in May at this link.

 June 2024

  • San Juan Festival (June 23-24) – Bonfires on the beach, fireworks, and celebrations for the summer solstice.
  • Corpus Christi (June 6-9) – A religious festival with processions and flower carpets in the streets.
  • Big Sound Festival (June 27-28) - At the City of Arts and Sciences. Hardly any tickets left to see Bad Gyal and others this year.

Again these are just the major events but there is plenty going on and you can see Valencia's June cultural agenda at this link.

July 2024

  • Festival Internacional de Benicàssim (FIB) (July 18-20) – One of Spain’s biggest music festivals, usually Glastonbury without the mud, featuring international artists (held north of Valencia in Castellón).
  • Valencia Jazz Festival (Throughout July) – Live jazz performances across the city.
  • Feria de Julio (July Fair) – A huge funfair, fireworks, and cultural events.
  • Los Conciertos de Viveros (Viveros Concerts) - Plenty of concerts in the Viveros Park including this year Simple Minds, The Human League and Europe (Yes, they are all still going).

Once more you can see everything that is going on in July here and this page is updated regularly.

August 2024

  • La Tomatina (August 28) – The world-famous tomato-throwing festival in Buñol (just outside Valencia) Now requires tickets.
  • Assumption Day (August 15) – Public holiday with local celebrations and some beach events.
  • Sailing & Water Sports – Valencia’s beaches host various sailing and watersports competitions.
  • Medusa Sunbeach Festival in Cullera - The leading festival for electronic music lovers returns to Cullera. Armin Van Buuren, Paco Osuna, Afrojack and many more, will appear this year.
  • Xativa's August Fair - In August, Xátiva celebrates the oldest fiestas in the Region of Valencia dating back to the 13th century, a privilege granted to the town by king Jaime I.
  • Filmoteca D'Estiu 2025 - Every year there is a series of classic films in the riverbed outside the Palau de Musica usually starting around 11pm. This year's films are not yet announced but there will be plenty of interesting ones and in original version too.

Again the August page of events is here. Not much in there yet but it will be updated as we get towards what is usually the hottest summer month.

Scaling up Escalante

Stepping Stone Rentals has the perfect family home within minutes of the Port of Valencia. Large apartment consisting of 3 bedrooms, 1 large bathroom, a washroom, dining & living room and two spacious balconies that allow a world of sunlight to fill the home.

To make your stay even more comfortable, all bedrooms plus the living room are equipped with an A/C for both cooling in summer and heating in winter. On top of that, both single bedrooms could work as your home office space as both have practical desks and office chairs.

It's a first floor so not to many stairs, if you want a bit of passive exercise, however, there is a good lift for those days when you arrive home with bags of groceries to take up.

One of our favorite things about this home is it's amazing location to Valencia's main Port, an unbeatable spot where people gather for rollerblading sessions, strolling, having coffee, boat watching... But that's not all, if you have had enough with exploring the many streets, restaurants and markets the Cabanyal has to offer, you will find the metro station very nearby to go to the old town or directly to the airport.

Last but not least: The beach is not more than 10 minutes away!

Property Of The Week

Standout villa with outstanding views in Pedralba for just 210K.

The type of property we rarely list any more. On an urbanisation but further from the city than the more expensive places In L’Eliana or La Cañada. Why don’t we list them? Because they are usually crap, that’s why. Illegal builds, no internet, poor quality construction, rustic land, all of the above….

So when we do list one, you can be guaranteed it is very good, and maybe one of a kind. This house was built only 16 years ago, and it feels it. Solid and modern, good windows and with a proper pool (ie not a converted reservoir tank). It is on an urbanisation, but just in case you get too comfortable, the last 100 metres is unpaved. That is really the only indication that you are not in a more established urbanisation. And the price of course!

The main house has 2 double bedrooms, a bathroom and an open kitchen and living area. The terrace and pool are just a few steps from the house, so easy to make use of them as an extension of the living area. The views from here are amazing, across the valley to the south and west, great sunset viewing. In addition, the garage area downstairs has been converted to a guesthouse. Completely independent from the main house, there is a bedroom, bathroom and a living area.

You will be dependent on a car here however, the nearest town is Pedralba (8 mins drive) which is beautiful, but Liria is probably worth the extra few minutes in the car (15 in total) for choice of shops, restaurants and of course the metro to the city. However you won’t feel isolated because as well as friendly neighbours who live here year round, there is fibre internet available on this urbanisation.

Valencia city is 40 minutes drive, and to be honest I’m not driving out that far unless its somewhere that I think is worth it. And I think this is. Oh yeah, and don't be annoying us saying that's great but can you show me 6 more like it. There aren't 6 more. This is the one worth seeing, get in touch.
