I got a spam e-mail yesterday, OK so it wasn't exactly spam it was about property and was sent to me because the person involved had seen my blog about Spanish Twitterers and sent me a mail to sell a property nearby, (After all I am an Estate Agent with houses for sale in Spain, aren't I? Here is the link by the way it is a new site so don't bite)So, anyway today I stumbled upon a new follower on @Valprop (as I cannot turn the notifications off every time there is a new follower I get a mail and Valprop is my slightly more corporate alter ego who doesn't swear at banks in Tweets) This link was pointing to somebody in Valencia and when I looked at their profile, the name Valencia piqued my interest of course, what should I discover but the people they follow on Twitter have a somewhat familiar look? In fact if you look well you could almost say that those people are in order from this blog. Now I had a disagreement with @gospain, one of those featured in the blog, about whether being featured in blogs was of any use as regards followers. Damian thinks that it is very little use and that blogging good content is the best way (I agree on that point) But I have been looking at many of the new followers I have this week and many of them are following many or all of those featured on the blog about Spanish Twitterers. Why is this? Well for those who have followed me recently you know perfectly well. My auto DM message (For my sins I have one) is the following"Thanks for following me. For any help in Spain in any way DM or @ reply me. http://bit.ly/tJQXX for more Spanish Twitterers"What does this mean? Well the message is not a pitch and it adds information because those who follow me for whatever reason are also interested in Spain in general. Therefore I give them more info (And at the same time get them into my blog site for a read by the way) It certainly seems that apart from the spammers that follow in the hope of getting an autofollow and being able to spam me (I don't have autofollow and I don't check who follows me on @grahunt, so if you follow me and think I should follow you do what somebody did today and send me an email introducing yourself or @ reply me.)The next list of Spanish Twitterers will be coming up tomorrow or tonight probably if I get a bit of time, currently acting as a single parent while wife is away and the brood are taking a lot of looking after as it is school holidays, and those featured will get more followers. How is the blog doing by the way I hear you ask en-masse? Well I started this four months ago and it is now a Google PR3 and had its best day ever for visitors last week when a post was featured on Stumble Upon and I got over 200 visitors from that site in an hour. However that is not my target market. Oh the blog post featured was this one and the blogs featured in it might also have benefitted from the exposure (or not). The bloggers there were all featured in my Spanish Twitter list so you could say that it pays to get to know me and get on my right side ;-).So if you think you should be followed for whatever reason, get in touch by sending me a message on Twitter @grahunt, I will soon be allowing guest blog posts on my blogs too so if you think you might want to write one also get in touch with me.
