Spring was a passing fancy and we went straight into summer in Valencia and that means weekend barbecues, garden parties and especially kids' parties by the pool.
One of the great advantages of living in a country where life is lived much more outside is that when you need to arrange a party for your kids you do not need to make a huge song and dance about it and spend loads taking them to a Wacky Warehouse or something similar.
Kids are generally happy with a pool a few water guns and some crisps and cakes, to complement the birthday cake of course, but here you can just factor in huge tubs of water melon, strawberries and nectarines along with a bit of alcohol for the adults and voila, instant kids party. If your house doesn't have a pool then don't worry, the local lido type pool or the beach make just as good a venue as do the brilliantly appointed public parks.
As you can see from the pics, sometimes the water is quite cold to get into still at this time of year but the best way to get in is to bomb like Dani did here.
