I don't know whether it was just me or whether Fallas was rather muted in comparison to other years this year. The monuments seemed a little smaller and the chaos of the war zone fireworks a little quieter. However the city was still buzzing with so many people that it was virtually impossible to move around. The weather was kindish until the last day when it became overcast and hotels in Valencia are reporting occupation around the 100% mark so they are quite happy.
Now there is only a week to go until Easter though so they are looking now to the heavens in the hope that warm weather will attract people down to the Med coast after the long winter we have had.
Go to this link for a gallery of last night's photos of the burning at Campanar in Valencia and there will be more to come later today when we show you the results of the offering to the Virgin Mary in Valencia's Plaza de la Virgen by the Cathedral.
Fallas is over for another year and Valencia can get back to work... for week at least
